Smithtown Rooftop Therapy Wing

- A Long Island Nursing facility wished to position itself as a center for excellence in rehabilitative services. Their existing therapy space was too small to meet new program needs and could not be easily expanded without significant and costly renovations to adjacent spaces. Our solution was to build-out onto an existing second floor roof setback to capture an area of approximately 3,500 square feet. This approach presented some logistical challenges including the "threading" of new steel columns through the ground floor spaces below in order to support the new addition.
- The new skylit therapy suite includes ample space for Occupational and Physical Therapy with dedicated areas for ambulation, exercise specific therapies and activities of daily living training.
