Holliswood Hospital – Children’s Wing

• A well established Psychiatric Hospital needed to expand its services by establishing a Pediatric Residential unit. Several years earlier we had successfully converted underutilized office space on an upper floor into a ten-bed expansion of an adult unit. The Hospital asked us to execute this strategy again by converting a ground floor office suite into a fifteen-bed Children's Psych Wing.
• The unit's program includes a "school room" administrated by the New York City Board of Education along with a compliment of lounge and recreational spaces.
• The primary challenge was to balance resident privacy with the need for staff supervision and to specify and detail impact and tamper resistant finishes/hardware in an aesthetically sensitive way.
