Diagnostic & Treatment Center Design Concepts

- Most of our community based Health Care design work involves facilities that provide services spanning multiple disciplines. The challenge we most often face in this scenario is to develop a design which serves different functional programs, but which appears as a "unified whole".
- As with any good design, the key to satisfying the program lies in the organizational hierarchy or spatial flow. With multi-disciplinary sites, it is important to avoid "cross traffic" if possible and to group shared clinical support spaces in a central "hub".
- Public spaces should be cozy and comfortable to promote a relaxed, soothing atmosphere. Treatment areas need finishes that are durable but should also be designed using warmer colors and indirect lighting to "feel" less institutional.
