Projects | Adult Day Care

John Baumgarten helped pioneer the establishment of the Adult Day Health Care Program by designing some of the first ADHCs to be built in the New York Metropolitan area. To date, he and his firm have created space for programs which serve well over a thousand of the region’s frail and elderly.
The challenge in designing ADHCs is to create a friendly, welcoming environment that is also multi-functional.
An ADHC is a person’s “home away from home” and must have familiar and comforting symbolism. At the same time, the environment must also stimulate the senses and foster cognitive activities.
